Scene Analysis - Burn After Reading

Burn after reading is a comedy by the Cohen brothers. The premises of the story is that two gym employees undercover what they think is top secret information and they then try to blackmail the C.I.A into giving them money to pay for plastic surgery. The scene i have chosen to analyze is the scene when the gym employees are first introduced. Linda and Chad are working at the gym and Linda is checking her internet dating websites to see if she has had any responses. There are bright lights and lots of friendly, chattering background noises. There are many different pieces of gym equipment in the background that are being used by different customers at the gym. The scene is very light hearted and the shots vary from being close ups to mid-long shots. The shot is just stright for most of the time as they are sitting in frnt of hte computer and th ecamera is not moving, and there is only oe high shot in the entire scene.

Evaluation/Reflection

This term in creative media, I completed a website and poster for the film ‘Disturbia’ I chose to do the assignment on this movie because I thought it would offer a variety of angles, mystery, murder, friendship, family and love. I also think it is a good film and have enjoyed watching it many times. My goal for this assignment was to keep up the standard of work I have shown throughout the year. I have gone well in all assignments so far in all sections, and I really want this trend to continue this term.

At the beginning of the term I was really looking forward to this assignment because I thought it would be a lot of fun. Even though I though it would be really fun, I also knew that it would be a lot of work and as it is a short term, I was worried that the time limit would be very restricting.

Through out this assignment, I think I have gone really well in this assignment. I am really happy with my website and I think it reflects how hard I worked. I worked on the assignment in every lesson as well as for homework. I think I have managed my time really well and was not at all rushed at the last minute. In first term, I left myself with a lot of work to do on the last night because I underestimated how much work I had left. This did not happen this time and I am confident that my work is of a high standard.

From continuous blogging and completing various research components, I feel comfortable that my website and poster fit into the design brief/task sheet well and I think I have done a good job on successfully completing the project.

I am really looking forwards to creative media next year, in 2010. I think I have gone really well and improved through out the year, and I believe the task next year is to make a film. AS it will be a year long project, I think I will be able to really get into it and produce a piece which is well structured and thoroughly planned.

Website Template

For my website, I decided to use a dark background. I chose to do this because it is a dark film and having a dark background would suit it the best. Having a light coloured background would not suit the film and the mood I am trying to create. My poster has pictures of police officers, murders and contains other scary pictures from the film. These are best represented when they have a dark background.

My Poster

This is the poster which I desingned and created using photoshop. It looks pretty bad here, but if you click on the image a better version can be viewed.

Poster Research

So far, I have only seen the one disturbia poster.
